Laura Chien is a doctoral researcher at the Australian National University whose work centres the patient voice in diagnosis. She investigates how patients and caregivers navigate real-world diagnostic uncertainty in emergency care, using qualitative methods to understand diagnostic communication. A 2025 Institute for Healthcare Improvement Fellow, Laura combines research with advocacy for patients and diagnostic safety as a consumer representative for the ACT Health Care Consumers Association and the Canberra Health Services Clinical Review Committee.
