Meet the Fellowship Leadership

The Fellowship is supported by the CIDM Education Committee

About the Program

Looking to develop additional expertise in diagnostic excellence, safety and quality?

The Community to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine (CIDM) fellowship will enhance your knowledge and skills in diagnostic excellence, match you with experienced mentors and recognized leaders in the field, connect you with the broader diagnosis community, and help you develop and implement your own project.

The one-year CIDM fellowship is intended for early career health professionals including clinicians, educators, researchers, quality improvement experts, and those that span multiple categories.

Each fellow will benefit from the following:

  • A personal mentor specifically matched to your area of focus within diagnosis (e.g., education, research, practice improvement, advocacy, informatics, etc.) and/or your own needs
  • Networking within the diagnostic medicine field
  • A structured curriculum of webinars and journal clubs
  • Participation in a community of current and past fellows in related programs
  • Opportunities for disseminating scholarship at our annual meeting and through peer-reviewed publications, such as the journal Diagnosis
  • Financial support for attendance at the annual Diagnostic Excellence (DEX) meeting

Mission, Vision, and Goals of the Fellowship

The fellowship’s mission is to cultivate expertise in diagnostic excellence, foster innovation through scholarly projects, and build a connected community committed to improving patient outcomes through diagnostic excellence.

Our vision to catalyze careers in the field of diagnostic excellence and to develop future leaders in the diagnostic excellence movement.

The overarching goals of the fellowship align with the eight core goals for reducing diagnostic error that are outlined in the 2015 National Academies of Science and Medicine report Improving Diagnosis in Healthcare.
